Summer is the best time for a home remodel. Why?
Lots of reasons.
More daylight hours = more work done.
June 21 is the longest day of the year — imagine how much sawing and hammering gets done on this day!
The truth is, there’s no substitute for daylight. No matter how many lights you bring in, it’s just not the same as natural light, so when you doing a home remodel, it’s best to do
the work during the day.
During the summer, you’re apt to be at home less, gone away on
vacation or off visiting friends. You might think that you’d prefer to be present during a
home remodel, so you can see how it’s going and make sure the work is proceeding the
way you want it to.
Trust us, you don’t want this. Hovering over the crew asking lots of questions about what
they’re doing and why definitely slows down the process. A good contracting company
will touch base with you daily to inform you of their progress. This is standard with new
constructions, since they are always unoccupied. You can even see pictures, if you’d like.
It’s important to make sure you are getting what you want with a home remodel, but your
contractor already has a project manager, thankyouverymuch, and that person is happy to
be your go-between with the workers.
Less energy loss.
When the weather is super hot or super cold and one of your walls is
missing, it’s hard to keep the heat or the cool air in. Sure, we put up a plastic sheet, but if
that really worked well, we would just make houses out of plastic sheets.
We’ll still put the plastic sheeting up to keep dust and noise to a minimum in the
occupied parts of the house during your home remodel, but you won’t have to worry
about all your heating or cooling dollars seeping into the yard if you have a project done
during nice weather.
If these reasons are enough to convince you that now is the time to move ahead with your home
remodel project, then you should make some calls and get on the schedule as quickly as possible.
Lots of other people are reading this and thinking the same thing, and that’s part of what makes
spring and summer the busiest seasons for building contractors.
Here at Falk Construction, we look forward to the warmer weather and longer days so we can do
more of what we do best: home remodeling. The scent of sawdust and the sound of nail guns are
constant inspiration to our team — we just love making Utah homes more beautiful!
