Do you need a new kitchen?
It would be nice if you could just order one on Amazon, but you can’t. It’s a process, but it’s one we’ve done hundreds of times here at Falk Construction, so you can rest assured when you trust us, your project is in good hands.
But where do you even start?
The first step is sitting down with a designer to talk about what you expect in a new kitchen. We need to outline where your old kitchen is lacking and how to rectify the problem.
Many homeowners feel they don’t have enough room in their kitchens. Too many items are stacked on the counters, the cabinets are overflowing and there isn’t enough space to work. Some of this can be addressed through clutter busting, but that won’t take care of the whole problem.
Breaking down walls is a major renovation, but it’s less work to move an interior wall than to break through an outside wall. Stealing space from a lesser-used room can be a good solution.
Reconfiguring the space you have, hanging more or larger cabinets and adding an island or better storage fixtures can all help get you the space you need to work.
What if you have enough room, but what you have in there isn’t working? Old appliances, a bad layout and dim lighting can all contribute to making the cook in the house crabby.
A refrigerator that’s too small won’t hold more than a few days’ worth of food for your family, but you might be — literally — boxed into that size/model because it fits snugly in the space formed by your cabinets. When you opt for a new kitchen, you can break out of this trap and get the size refrigerator you need.
Lighting is critically important to most every type of work, including cooking. If you have one light in the center of your kitchen, you’re probably always working in shadow. Under-cabinet lighting makes a huge difference when you are trying to prepare and cook meals.
Some people say looks don’t matter, but it isn’t always true. A tired, old kitchen casts a pall over your work each day. Cabinets with nicks and dings, appliances that no longer come clean, yellowed linoleum and scratched countertops can make you want to turn around and go out to dinner whenever you walk into the room.
A new kitchen will bring the joy back into preparing meals for your family, and Falk Construction can make it happen. We are the experts at remodeling kitchens, bathrooms, basements and more. We are also general contractors.
