Benefits of Customizing New Construction Homes, Part 1

April 9, 2019

As a top general contractor in Utah, new home builder is one of our most common titles at Falk Construction Inc. We’ve been building homes for Utahns from the ground up for over 30 years, offering you unprecedented control over whatever you desire in your new home.

For those in the market for a new home, one of the first major decision points is in this area: Do I buy a new construction home like one from Falk Construction Inc., or go with a previously built and occupied home that’s on the market? Both may have their benefits, but if it’s within your budget, there are several reasons why new construction homes stand out. This two-part blog will detail all the benefits you may stand to receive by working with our contractors to build a beautiful new home in northern Utah.

Warrantied Areas

When you buy a previously occupied home, it’s rare to receive a warranty or guarantees of any kind on various parts or components. The only chance here is that a previous warranty is still remaining from another buyer, but many warranties expire if the home is sold.

When you build a new home from the ground up, however, this is not the case. Many of your highest-value appliances and features will indeed come with warranties, which are helpful for both peace of mind and in the rare case where something actually malfunctions.

Safety and Health

For starters, building a new construction home allows you to define various safety areas you may want as part of your personalization (more on this in a moment). This is great if you have young children, for instance, or if a senior loved one lives with you and requires wheelchair access or some other kind of allowance.

Down a slightly different path, building a new home brings fewer health-related risks. Certain older homes may still contain radon, asbestos or mold, but these are highly uncommon in new construction homes using modern materials and processes (and they’re often covered by warranties, as we noted above if they do crop up by chance).

Personal Choice

From a broad perspective, having true control over many elements and features of your new home means a lot to many people. You can choose everything from the number of certain room types to the flooring materials used, plus numerous areas in between. There’s virtually no element of home design we can’t work in for you at your request.

Appliances and Efficiency

Not only will your appliances often come with warranties, you’ll have much more control over which ones are installed and how your home functions in terms of energy efficiency and environmental friendliness. There are many modern products that are designed with green homeownership in mind, such as solar panels, energy-efficient windows, and modern heating or AC tools that lower your footprint.
